Brian Scott is a young 18 year old
Hurricane boy who just got diagnosed with Leukemia last week! Kalamity,
Kaos and the Vault Fam Bam are putting on a benefit concert for Brian
OCTOBER 22nd!
Brian and his family have been going through a lot these past few months and they def need our help and especially our prayers!!
Brian Scott had one of the most successful seasons in Utah high school
football in 2011 for the Hurricane Tigers. He ran for more than 1,600
yards in leading the team to the 3A state football crown — its first
title since 1948 — and was named 3A Most Valuable Player by The Spectrum
& Daily News as well as the Deseret News.Less than a year later, Scott finds himself in an entirely different battle not related to football — a fight for his life.
Scott was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of leukemia Tuesday and is receiving treatment at the Huntsman Cancer Center in Salt Lake City. A three-time state wrestling champion for the Tigers at 215 pounds, Scott signed on to play football at Southern Utah. He was getting ready to leave for his LDS Church mission to Uruguay at the end of the month.
The impact of Scott’s illness is being felt throughout the Hurricane football program along with the entire community.
“It’s a rough time right now,” Hurricane assistant coach Jeff Parker
said. “Brian was a solid kid, not just a football player. He’s taking it
really well.
“It’s been rough for some of our coaches and a lot of our players. Hopefully a lot of people are saying prayers.”
Teammates, coaches and friends have all said Scott is in good spirits. The form of leukemia Scott has is curable, and he’ll be in Salt Lake City for a month to receive treatment.
“Don’t take any day for granted. Always look for an opportunity to serve others,” Marshall said. “We’re learning that, just like he is.”
